Ice and Strim join forces to challenge the industry
The mobile operator Ice and the Norwegian streaming service Strim have entered into a collaboration, and offer free streaming and Data Freedom throughout the summer. The goal is to get more people to cut the cable.
- We have been impressed by what Strim has developed, and want to give over 700,000 Ice customers the opportunity to try the TV offer of the future free of charge throughout the summer. We see that Ice and Strim fit very well together, says Shiraz Abid, commercial director of Ice.
Traditional TV packages are usually sold in combination with the fixed broadband the customer has at home, but new streaming services are also constantly being established. Strim has developed a web-based service where TV and streaming services are wrapped in one common solution, and the customer is not tied to either the fixed network at home or the lock-in period.
- Both Strim and Ice are real challengers in the mobile and TV market that contribute to increased competition and freedom of choice. We have great ambitions for customer growth in the future and are very pleased to offer Ice's customers Norway's most innovative streaming and TV product. Together we can challenge traditional solutions and I hope this summer's campaign is just the start of the collaboration, says Ole Andre Skarbøvik, commercial director of Strim.
Just the beginning
- In a market with free competition and real freedom of choice, we would probably see a greater transfer of customers from traditional TV subscriptions, often bundled with broadband subscriptions, to alternative solutions such as the streaming service Strim than what we see today. The collaboration with Ice will give more people the opportunity to discover a real alternative and try a modern product without obligations, says Skarbøvik.
The agreement between Ice and Strim means that Ice customers get exclusive free access to "Strim Mest" for two months (ordinary price 399, - per month) without a lock-in period. The promotion period is from June 15 to August 31. At the same time, Ice has launched two promotional products with 10 GB for 249 and 15 GB for 299, and anyone who chooses a subscription with 8GB or more can try Data Freedom for free for two months.
- Ice creates a new alternative for mobile customers, and so does Strim in the market for TV and entertainment. We want to encourage our customers to do something as simple as trying. Download the Ice app and try a competitor in the TV market, Abid concludes.
