ice group renews national roaming agreement in Norway

Oslo, 3 May 2018 – ice group’s Norwegian operation has entered into a new and improved national roaming agreement (NRA) with Telia in Norway.

The new NRA is valid for two years, with an additional and conditional right to prolong the NRA for one year. The financial details of the agreement remain confidential.

“Following a thorough evaluation, we decided to continue with Telia. The new agreement offers favourable conditions and, more importantly, a higher level of flexibility for ice,” says Eivind Helgaker, managing director of ice group’s Norwegian operation.

The new NRA replaces the three-year agreement (+ an optional three-year period) the two parties signed in February 2015. This agreement was part of the remedy package Telia offered to ice group at the time.

“The previous NRA was attractive to ice whilst in its early stages, in line with its remedial purpose. However, as we have grown our customer base quicker than expected, and executed our 4G network build-out more rapidly than we initially planned, the NRA terms no longer matched ice’s current market position in Norway. Hence, we utilised a contractual option to re-negotiate the terms of the agreement,” says Helgaker.

The NRA includes 2G, 3G and 4G coverage for all ice customers in Norway.
